Eight of China’s Ten Most Devastating Natural Disasters in 2021 Were Water Related

The Ministry of Emergency Management released yesterday the ten most devastating natural disasters of China in 2021, including torrential rains, floods, hails and earthquakes. These in total impacted 30.19 million people, and caused a casualty of 561 people and a direct economic loss of 183.7 billion CNY. Among the enlisted disasters, eight were water related, and account for more than 95% of the total losses of the ten.
